Hongyan Sha is associated with being flirtatious and having a strong affinity with the opposite sex. Although one may not necessarily be outstanding in appearance, they possess a unique charm and good interpersonal relationships. This Sha represents romantic luck and peach blossom luck. Those with Hongyan Sha in their fate often find themselves entangled in emotional disputes, prone to affairs or emotional fluctuations. Women with this Sha tend to lose their chastity easily in relationships, quickly moving into cohabitation, and often struggle to maintain marital stability. If the Dizhi (地支) has the Rigan (日干) of Lu (禄) and carries Yima (驿马), there is a stronger physiological desire, which may lead to negative emotional consequences.

Hongyan Sha is a special star Sha in fate theory, representing romantic and emotional affairs. It is often compared with Peach Blossom, but unlike Hongluan which governs marriage, Hongyan Sha focuses more on the variability and complexity of romantic relationships. It indicates the emotional fluctuations in a person's life. Those with this Sha in their fate are prone to being amorous and lustful but often fail to protect themselves, easily falling into emotional predicaments. As stated in "Sanming Tonghui," Hongyan Sha may cause the fate owner to encounter multiple emotional disputes or affairs throughout their life, especially if Zhengguan (正官) or Qisha (七杀) are in the same pillar, greatly affecting marital stability. An ancient verse says, "Even the daughters of wealthy and official families secretly meet under the flowers and moon." This describes the emotional disputes faced by those with Hongyan Sha, who, despite being from affluent families, often find themselves troubled by romantic affairs.
