Function​

Xuetang is an important auspicious star in the Four Pillars of Destiny, symbolizing academic achievement, wisdom, and fame. Method One: Using the Yearly Na Yin to Check the Month, Day, and Hour Branches

  • Metal Life sees "Si," with Xin Si as the true Xuetang;
  • Wood Life sees "Hai," with Ji Hai as the true Xuetang;
  • Water Life sees "Shen," with Jia Shen as the true Xuetang;
  • Earth Life sees "Shen," with Wu Shen as the true Xuetang;
  • Fire Life sees "Yin," with Bing Yin as the true Xuetang.

Method Two: Using the Day Stem to Check the Four Pillars

  • Jia (甲) sees Ji Hai
  • Yi (乙) sees Ren Wu
  • Bing (丙) sees Bing Yin
  • Ding (丁) sees Ding You
  • Wu (戊) sees Wu Yin
  • Ji (己) sees Ji You
  • Geng (庚) sees Xin Si
  • Xin (辛) sees Jia Zi
  • Ren (壬) sees Jia Shen
  • Gui (癸) sees Yi Mao

The combination of the individual's year branch, day stem, and other branches can help confirm whether Xuetang is present in the chart. If the Xuetang star is favorable in the chart, the individual can usually achieve academic success and excel in their career.

The Xuetang star, also known as the "Wen Xing" (文星), governs academics, talent, and fame. Individuals with Xuetang in their destiny usually excel academically and are highly talented. In ancient times, it was believed that the Xuetang star was one of the important auspicious stars in one's destiny, symbolizing wisdom, academics, and fame. In ancient China, those with Xuetang often had the opportunity to enter the Hanlin Academy or become scholars, achieving great success.

The "San Ming Tong Hui" states: "Xuetang without qi, only benefits teachers and scholars." This indicates that when the power of the Xuetang star is strongest, the individual can engage in work related to education, literature, or academics, becoming an outstanding teacher or scholar. Meanwhile, the "Li Yu Ge" says: "If Xuetang meets the Chao Yi Ma, the position is high and the merit is great, surpassing the world." However, the Xuetang star also has its limitations. For example, the "Zhu Sheng Jing" states: "Jia Chen Bing Yin, Xuetang is not true; or only enjoys wealth and shade, with low official positions and poverty." This suggests that if the Xuetang star encounters void or conflict, the individual's talents may not be fully realized, or they may not enjoy the deserved status and honor. Therefore, those with Xuetang in their destiny should be cautious to avoid conflicts and restrictions, ensuring that the power of the Xuetang star can be fully utilized.
