Function​

Jinshen (金神) is a special type of shensha (神煞) that represents intelligence, decisiveness, and a resolute character. People with Jinshen often possess leadership abilities or influence, but may appear isolated in interpersonal relationships and social connections. This shensha primarily affects the career and marriage aspects of the life owner, especially when Jinshen is nourished by fire, showing great potential for development. However, Jinshen dislikes water energy; if it operates in a water-abundant environment, achieving success in one's career becomes difficult. Life owners with Jinshen should seek development opportunities in years or luck cycles abundant in fire, as fire nurtures and supports metal, helping the life owner to maximize their potential.

In the luck cycles and annual years, if Jinshen encounters favorable conditions, such as a fire-rich environment or combination with wealth stars, it will exhibit great fortune and wealth accumulation, "wealth and nobility resound throughout." Conversely, if there are unfavorable conditions, such as abundant water or weak metal energy, it may lead to unstable destiny, making it difficult to achieve great success, "metal meets water and sinks."

The method to identify Jinshen is through the day pillar or hour pillar, specifically as follows:

  • Yi Chou (乙丑)
  • Ji Si (己巳)
  • Gui You (癸酉)

The concept of Jinshen originates from ancient fate studies, with detailed descriptions in the "Xiang Xin Fu (相心赋)": "Jinshen noble pattern, wondrous in fire land, possesses talents of decisiveness and intelligence, without the intention of harshness or deceit." In this phrase, the value and power of Jinshen are clearly expressed: only fire can help Jinshen realize its maximum potential. If Jinshen encounters water, its power will be weakened, even submerged. Strong metal needs fire refining, hence the saying "Jinshen enters the fire land, develops like a fierce tiger."

In "San Ming Tong Hui (三命通会)" and "Yuan Hai Zi Ping (渊海子平)", Jinshen is referred to as a "killing star," symbolizing destructiveness and strong aggressiveness. This star has significant deterrent power and independence, so the life owner often exhibits courage, intelligence, and leadership ability. People with Jinshen usually have strong personalities, are bold yet meticulous, but may also make others feel difficult to approach due to their excessive firmness.
